  • We visited the library for Celestine to take part in Super Science Saturday and get 12 more books to read for her Summer Reading Club. I left with a stack of comfort comics. I read the Delilah Dirk and On A Sunbeam books as webcomics, and the anime adaptation of the Your Lie in April manga is one of my favorites. Celestine added Pita-Ten to my stack so that will be the one comic unknown to me.

  • I read through the first volume of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou tonight and fell completely in love with it. I'd read a fan translation a while back, but this version is a delight. It's a cozy slice of life comic with an ecological disaster looming in the background and a robot protagonist. I was surprised to see it was translated by a Nova Scotian, and that a conscious choice was made to present the Kanagawa dialect as a Nova Scotian one.

  • I picked up 3 volumes of Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles today (60% off on Google Play Books) and after one chapter I'm won over by the design, layouts and story. And I'm craving noodles now.

  • I listened to the latest episode of the Book Club for Masochists podcast today, and it was about podcasts. One of Matthew's recommendations, Mangasplaining, has now added many hours to my podcast catch up list and will probably grow my books to read list too. The first Mangasplaining episode fittingly covers Akira, and it was a fun overview.

  • Pokémon Adventures 04

    Now I've gotten back to the series with the first volume following Yellow, volume 4. I've been charmed by Yellow's indomitable manner and his compassion for his Pokémon and am now excited to keep reading his adventures.

The characters are more fleshed out and the story diverges from the games in ways that keep things interesting.
