Our first proper D&D session last night with my D&D group was a combatless one where we introduced our wacky characters and helped a ghost remember her former life, including dying in combat back-to-back with her wife.

Our weird little D&D party includes my Bamfi, an aasimar pirate psion who's using mind powers and being angelic, an elf rogue who'd rather craft than steal, a himbo goliath, a tiefling artificer who's really into maps, and a fairy rogue who is strange in unfathomable ways.
